Hillary Clinton Says 'Future is Female' in First Statement Post Election in Rancho Palos Verdes

Clinton said today's women are the ones that are going to make history and be the "glass-ceiling breakers of the future."

PALOS VERDES, CA -- Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on Monday told attendees in a video message at the annual MAKERS women's conference in Rancho Palos Verdes that "the future is female."

Clinton did not make an appearance at the annual three-day gathering that highlights women leaders in various industries.

The former Secretary of State said that the millions of demonstrators worldwide who participated in last month's Women's March is an example of how women are stepping up to shape the future.

“We need strong women to step up and speak out, we need you to dare greatly and lead boldly. So, please, set an example for every woman and girl out there who’s worried about what the future holds and wonder whether our rights, opportunities and values will endure,” Clinton said in the 90-second video that opened the conference.

The MAKERS Conference counted media mogul Oprah Winfrey, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and others among its more than 400 members or MAKERS, according to its website.
