Introducing: Comments of the Week

Patch launches a weekly list of readers' reactions to the latest headlines in Rancho Palos Verdes.

It’s a big thrill for Patch when readers engage with us and the community by commenting on stories on our site.

We’ve decided to launch a weekly roundup of comments we receive during the week. This week began with reader responses to a story on the local riding club and a Portuguese Bend project.

  • Our 6 yr old daughter starting riding a few years ago in Indiana. When my job relocated to the Torrance area, we wanted to find a place for her to ride here. We tried other places before finding Callie at the PBRC. She not only does a great job teaching the full spectrum of horsemanship, but I am impressed the most in how she instills confidence in the students she teaches. Quality people with quality horses. Our daughter would agree that T-bone is the best horse ever. —wrote .
  • My horses have lived at PBRC since the early 70s, and every time I drive up there I'm thrilled by the place. It just seems to get better every year. — wrote .
  • Wonderful article! I was aware that it was owned by the Vanderlips, but I never knew that PBRC started as a dairy...or that there was a sarcophagus in the courtyard! It is fascinating to learn new things about the places we live. — wrote .

Goat project

Several hundred goats were earlier this week. They'll help with a Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy restoration project by grazing on weeds in a 12-acre area.

Residents commented on the unique sight:

  • I love this project! Seeing the goats is wonderful.  —wrote .
