UPDATE: L.A. Man Allegedly Kidnaps Ex-Girlfriend in Redondo Beach Dies of Apparent Self-Inflicted Gunshot
The woman was found in Torrance a few hours later. The suspect was found dead at around 3 p.m. with a gunshot wound.

A 27-year-old man suspected of abducting his ex- girlfriend at gunpoint in Redondo Beach on Thursday was found dead in a Torrance motel room bathroom, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
The 22-year-old woman, who later escaped unharmed, was abducted about 3:20 a.m. in the 900 block of Carnelian Street, Redondo Beach police Sgt. Shawn Freeman said.
She was located about 5:15 a.m. at the Super 8 motel at 2360 Sepulveda Blvd. after

reportedly calling a relative who then notified police.
Police started emptying the hotel about 8 a.m., and traffic was routed away from the area.

Members of the Redondo Beach and Torrance police departments contained the room where the suspect, identified as Timothy Thomas of Los Angeles, had rented a room and found him dead in the bathroom from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Freeman said.
The suspect was found about 3:10 p.m., according to Torrance police.
