Lunada Bay Boys' Fort to Be Demolished by Year End
The Planning Commission plans to return the area to its natural condition.

PALOS VERDES, CA — The fort built by the Lunada Bay Boys will be demolished by the end of the year.
The Palos Verdes Estates Planning Commission approved the permit to tear down the illegal cliffside hangout of the surfer gang. The demolition project will cost an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 and may involve the use of a helicopter to lower a dumpster down the base of a cliff, according to a staff report.
The city manager is expected to issue a request for bids late next month. The Planning Commission voted to tear down the fort in July because of pressure from the Coast Commission. Residents were against the idea and spoke passionately about it at the meeting. However, at last week's meeting, no one spoke against it.
