Lunada Bay Boys Were Tipped Off to Sting Operation, Court Documents Show
The Bay Boys were tipped to a sting operation to crack down on the alleged gang's surfing localism, according to court documents.

PALOS VERDES, CA -- Palos Verdes' Lunada Bay Boys had insider help to avoid a crackdown on their alleged surfing localism activities last year, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
A sting operation to catch the gang's alleged bullying tactics in the act was planned for February 2016 but was abruptly called off because someone had tipped the Bay Boys off, the Daily News reported.
Palos Verdes Estates Police Chief Jeff Kepley had planned the sting with the Santa Monica Police Department to crack down on the alleged surf gang's harassment, according to documents filed by attorneys suing the city of Palos Verdes Estates and the Lunada Bay Boys.

While only a few people at the city knew about the operation, Kepley said in the deposition that the tip could have come from "anyone in Santa Monica Police Department, or any other agency in L.A. County who was at the chief's meeting when I asked for help."
