Video: Masked Men Chase Man And Woman Across PCH In South Bay Immigration Raid
Video shows a man and woman running away before he trips, allowing the masked men in vests to capture him.
WILMINGTON, CA — At least three men were detained Friday morning in Wilmington during an apparent immigration raid, according to officials.
Videos published on social media by ÓRALE, a Long Beach nonprofit that aims to end the criminalization of immigrants and offer support systems, show what appears to be masked men in vests bearing "police" across the chest, detaining people in Wilmington on Friday morning.
A man and a woman can be seen in the video running westbound on Pacific Coast Highway toward Figueroa Street. At some point, the man trips and falls, allowing the masked men to catch up to him. They then appear to handcuff him and walk him back towards their car.

"Three individuals were detained by what we believe to be federal immigration enforcement officers while eating at a local taco stand they frequent daily," said Los Angeles City Councilmember Tim McOsker, who represents the 15th district, which spans Watts, Harbor City, Wilmington. "We have also heard reports of additional raids throughout Wilmington."
McOsker said the masked men did not present a warrant during a rest, nor did they ask for names or identification. The councilmember said the actions taken Friday morning were an "alarming violation of the due process rights guaranteed to all people in this country."

"My office has been in contact with one of the families from the detainment at PCH and Figueroa, but we are still working to identify the other two individuals who were taken," McOsker said. "I urge everyone to stay safe and vigilant."
A Border Patrol spokesperson told Patch that federal agents arrested one of the men, Jorge Sierra-Hernandez, for ramming a car into a federal agent's vehicle during a law enforcement operation. CBP didn't specify when or where that happened, but added that "rioters" then attacked law enforcement personnel with rocks.
"Anyone who actively obstructs or assaults law enforcement, including U.S. citizens, will face consequences, which include arrest," John B. Mennell, a public affairs specialist with CBP, said. It's still not clear what agency conducted the operation in Wilmington today.
Since immigration raids began in Los Angeles on June 6, federal agents have arrested more than 1,600 immigrants, most of them men with no criminal convictions, according to reports from the Los Angeles Times.
Although protests have waned following a large-scale "No Kings" demonstration across the country, immigration raids targeting workers have continued across the Southland.
In videos published on social media, Border Patrol, ICE and other federal agencies can be seen chasing day laborers down, raiding car washes and arresting U.S. citizens trying to intervene on behalf of people being detained.
Videos published by ÓRALE over the last few days show what appear to be federal agents conducting raids in neighboring cities such as Long Beach and Signal Hill. On Sunday, men in Border Patrol vests raided a car wash in Torrance, with video showing at least one person being detained. The action led to a heated exchange between the owner of the car wash and the agents.
