Molester Who Posed As Delivery Man To Meet Girl, 9, Sentenced

PALOS VERDES, CA — A Rolling Hills Estates man was sentenced Tuesday for possessing child pornography and for committing lewd acts on two young girls, a relative and family friend.

James Anthony Gonzales, 36, was sentenced to 10 years and eight months in state prison and also ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Investigators found child pornography on Gonzales' cell phone and personal computer following his arrest after he tried contacting a 9-year-old girl at her home while posing as a food delivery man in November 2018, prosecutors said.

The girl's mother contacted police and showed them cell phone messages from a social media app between Gonzales and her daughter, according to the District Attorney's Office.

The lewd act charges involved a young girl, who is a family member that Gonzales inappropriately touched in 2017, and a similar incident happened with an underage family friend in 2003, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Gonzales pleaded no contest in November 2019 to two felony counts of a lewd act upon a child under 14, as well as one felony count of possession of child pornography.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
