Man Killed In Palos Verdes Estates House Fire

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA — A man in his 90s was found dead inside a Palos Verdes Estates home that was damaged by a fire, authorities said Monday.

The fire was reported at 11:05 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Via Del Monte, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Imy McBride.

Firefighters put out the flames in about a half-hour and found the man inside the two-story residence. Authorities withheld his name, pending notification of his relatives.

A fire official at the scene said the man was believed to be the only resident of the home, and that the blaze apparently started on a couch.
