Palos Verdes Crime: Patio Furniture Snatched From Mall

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning July 2 through last Monday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning July 30 through last Saturday.

Palos Verdes Estates

Drugs and alcohol offenses

July 1; 800 block of Via del Monte

An officer investigating a violation of city code arrested someone on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance at about 11:15 p.m. A second person was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication.

July 2; 2200 block of Via Rosa
An officer was sent to the 2200 block of Via Rosa and arrested an individual on suspicion of public intoxication at about 1:15 p.m.

July 7; intersection of Palos Verdes Drive West and Apsley Road
An officer conducted a traffic stop at about 9:30 a.m. and cited the driver on suspicion of possession of marijuana.

Traffic offenses

July 1; intersection of Paseo del Mar and Via Almar

An officer conducted a traffic stop at about 10:15 p.m. and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving without a license.

July 6; 1500 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Officers conducted a traffic stop at about 8:40 a.m. and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving without a license.

Burglaries

July 2; 1300 block of Vuelta Place
Someone smashed a second-story master bedroom window and stole an unknown amount of property between 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

July 2; 2800 block of Via de la Guerra
A burglar removed the screen to the open rear master bedroom window and stole the victim's property between 5:45 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.

July 4; 2100 block of Via Visalia
Someone smashed the passenger side window of a parked car with a large rock and stole a purse and a cellphone before 6:30 a.m.

July 4; 2100 block of Via Visalia
A burglar entered an open garage and stole unknown items from an unlocked vehicle. The culprit also entered the residence via the attached, unlocked door and stole more items while the victims were sleeping. The crime occurred between 10:18 p.m. July 3 and 4:20 a.m. July 4.

July 8; intersection of Via Colusa and Paseo del Campo
Two people were arrested on suspicion of burglary, auto theft, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer found them while responding to a report of suspicious people looking into parked vehicles between Palos Verdes Drive North and Via Colusa.

Vandalism

July 3; 300 block of Paseo del Mar

Someone smashed the rear passenger window of a parked car with an unknown object between 4:45 p.m. and 5:10 p.m.

July 4, 2200 block Via Rosa
Someone cut a hole in the chain-link fence surrounding a school playground and damaged the interior property between 3 p.m. July 3 and 9:48 a.m. July 4.

Rancho Palos Verdes

One person was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon; one person was arrested in connection with a drug case; three people were arrested on suspicion of robbery; and two people were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Grand theft auto

June 30; 6500 block of Beachview Drive
Someone stole an orange 2008 Harley Fat Boy motorcycle. The thief was described as a 20- to 25-year-old, 5-foot-7-inch Hispanic man with a medium build, black hair and a black goatee. He was wearing a blue, mechanic-style shirt and blue jeans.

July 2; 28700 block of Mount Lassen Lane
A black 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser was stolen between 11:20 p.m. July 1 and 9:25 a.m. July 2.

Robbery

July 2; 28000 block of Golden Meadow Drive
Three people were arrested on suspicion of robbery with a firearm. Nothing was reported stolen.

Grand theft

July 1; 20700 block of Ganado Drive
A black shoulder purse, California driver's license, four pairs of Ray Ban sunglasses, $200, an identification card and a Garmin GPS unit were stolen from two unlocked vehicles. The crime occurred between 9 p.m. June 30 and 7:30 a.m. July 1.

July 4; 30900 block of Palos Verdes Drive East
A Kracco blue spray paint machine, two DeWalt drills and three DeWalt electric sanders were stolen between 6 p.m. July 3 and 8 a.m. July 4.

July 6; 28900 block of Western Avenue
A brown Louis Vuitton wallet containing credit cards, a California driver's license and $760 were stolen from an unlocked car between 4 p.m. July 5 and 10 a.m. July 6.

Assault with a deadly weapon

July 4; 27600 block of Eldena Drive
One person was assaulted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon at about 1:30 p.m.. The suspect and victim knew each other, and the weapon used was a knife.

Burglary

July 6; ocean trail
Someone stole an Apple iPhone, a Coach checkbook case and a brown Coach wallet from a parked vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry.

No crimes or arrests were reported.

Rolling Hills Estates

No arrests were reported.

Petty theft of patio furniture

July 2; 700 block of Deep Valley Drive (two incidents)
Between 8:30 p.m. July 1 and 8:30 a.m. July 2, someone stole five patio chairs with cushions and a patio table with a glass top from one store. The same person stole two patio chairs with cushions and one patio table with a glass top from another store.

Shoplifting

July 6; Peninsula Center
Someone stole a grocery basket containing unknown items. The culprits are described as a 20- to 25-year-old, 5-foot-5-inch, 130-pound white woman with long, straight hair and a 20- to 25-year-old, 5-foot-7-inch, 160-pound Asian man with short hair. The second suspect exited the store with the items and got in the passenger side of a waiting dark, four-door sedan.

Westfield

No crimes or arrests were reported.
