PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA -- A Palos Verdes Estates science teacher, who had no formal photography training, is one of the finalists in an international photo competition, the Daily Breeze reported.
Renee Capozzolla, an AP biology teacher at Palos Verdes High School, had little diving and photography experience when she began taking underwater photos nearly 14 years ago, according to the Daily Breeze. Now, she's is a finalist in two categories at the International Underwater Photo Grand Prix, also known as the World Shootout.
“A year ago, if anyone had told me that I would be a top-five finalist in this World Shootout and be going to Germany, I would’ve been like, ‘Yeah, right,’" Capozzola told the Daily Breeze.
