RPV Council, Planning Commission to Talk Rule Revisions

Rancho Palos Verdes City Council and Planning Commission members tonight will discuss revisions to council rules, in addition to the adoption of council and commission/committee protocol.

Rancho Palos Verdes City Council and Planning Commission members will come together tonight to consider changes to the council's rules of procedure, in addition to the adoption of council and commission/committee protocol.

The council has been discussing revisions to its rules of procedure and the adoption of a city council and commission/committee protocol in recent weeks and will now gather feedback from the public, according to the city.

A council subcommittee, which includes Mayor Anthony Misetich and Councilwoman Susan Brooks, came up with proposed revisions to the current rules of procedure and developed a code of conduct for council members and members of city commissions and committees. This code of conduct, which would be entirely new to the city, borrows from the protocol used in neighboring Rolling Hills Estates, according to a city report.

One of the subcommittee's recommended revisions to the rules of procedure states that "with the advice of the mayor, or the mayor pro tem when the mayor is absent, the city manager prepares the agenda for city council meetings."

Also included are revisions that would impact city council members when requesting an item be put on the agenda.
