PV Library District to Waive Fines in January
The district will waive most overdue fines on Fridays in January.

Library fines will be waived by the in January on "Fine Free Fridays," a move the district hopes will encourage more residents to return overdue books.
Residents can visit any of the three district libraries on Fine Free Fridays to return overdue books or request overdue fines be waived.
The program includes all books returned in person, in addition to overdue and expired hold fees with a maximum of $50.

“We want to give our patrons a fresh start and believe this is the quickest and most efficient way to encourage those with overdue fines to come back to the library,” PVLD Director Kathy Gould said in a statement.
The district said this type of program has been successful in other cities such as New York and San Francisco.

Certain fees are excluded such as video/audio rental fees and replacement fees for lost items.
