PVE Disaster Preparedness Programs Win Excellence Award
The Disaster District Program, Neighborhood Watch and other programs are honored for excellence in disaster preparedness.

Multiple Palos Verdes Estates public safety and disaster preparedness programs were honored Wednesday by the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross at the annual Orange County Disaster Preparedness Academy.
The community programs—including the Disaster District Program, Neighborhood Watch, Neighborhood Watch Amateur Radio Team and the senior and dependent adult program of PVE CARES—received the award for Excellence in Disaster Preparedness.
"We are very proud of these committed individuals who dedicate themselves to the well being of their neighbors," Community Relations Officer Marcelle McCullough said in a statement. "Each member continues to promote and support each of our community programs, reflecting our ability to respond as a whole community with strength, organization and collaboration."

The groups received the award because of their collaborative nature, according to McCullough. Because they've partnered, residents of PVE get a "unified and consistent message of disaster preparedness," she said.
"Congratulations to everyone involved," McCullough said. "It is an award that is well deserved."
