Reward for Peninsula High Vandalism Information Now $2K

Neighboring Palos Verdes High School offers to match Peninsula's $1,000 reward.

The reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for at has increased to $2,000 after on Tuesday offered to match Peninsula's original $1,000 reward.

Palos Verdes Associate Principal Brent Kuykendall announced the school would match the reward after Peninsula officials found graffiti that covered much of the school's grounds early Tuesday morning. 

"Anytime something happens to any school in this district I think we all take it very personally," Kuykendall said. "[We] wanted to show support."

Graffiti was found on Peninsula's panther statue, brick and concrete surfaces, benches, lunch tables and buildings. Lockers were also vandalized, Peninsula's Associate Principal Stephanie Scott said on Tuesday.

The school was also surprised by , when graffiti was found on the amphitheater and track, in addition to other buildings and school surfaces. At the time, Palos Verdes High matched Peninsula's original reward of $500.

Kuykendall said he's not worried Palos Verdes High will experience similar acts of vandalism. He said the school would support Peninsula in the search for those responsible.

"They know they have support here if there's anything we can do to help in that matter, to find whoever did this (and) bring them to justice," he said.

As of Tuesday, no one had come forward with information about the most recent act of vandalism. Cleanup was expected to continue into today.

Scott on Tuesday called on support from , saying perhaps an increase in staff on the campus during the day and night would prevent future vandalism on school grounds.
