Schools Temporarily Locked Down
Two schools in Rancho Palos Verdes were locked down Wednesday morning as officers chased a suspect in a car theft through the canyons.

Miraleste Elementary and Miraleste Intermediate schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning after deputies notified the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District of a foot chase in the area, according to the school district's website.
The lockdown lasted from about 9:30 a.m. until 10:05 a.m.
"All students were safe," according to the PVPUSD. "At 10:04 a.m., the Sheriff's Department notified the PVPUSD that the lockdown had been lifted and schools could return to normal operations."

According to the Daily Breeze, officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were chasing someone suspected of driving a stolen vehicle. As of 1:45 p.m., the suspect had not been located, the newspaper reported.
Police scanner traffic at the time indicated that the suspect had run through the canyons in the area.
