How to Report That Drunk Driver in the Next Lane
The Sheriff's Department recommends these steps for reporting a suspected drunk driver while protecting your own safety on the road.

Sometimes when motorists see a drunk driver weaving in and out of lanes or driving down the wrong side of the street, they don’t know what to do.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department this week listed the following steps for motorists to take when they spot someone who appears to be driving while intoxicated.
Stay as far away from the vehicle as possible.

- Do not try to pass the vehicle or signal the driver to pull over. Doing so could result in a collision.
- Make note of the license plate number and other details of the vehicle, such as make, model and color. Be careful not to compromise your own safety when trying to record this information.
- Finally, pull over and call 911. Give the location of the suspected drunk driver's vehicle, including the name of the road or cross streets and the direction in which the vehicle is traveling. Then give the details of the vehicle and the manner in which it is being driven.
