Skatepark PV Video Wins Torrance TV Award

A Skatepark PV public service announcement won a Stanley Award as part of the Torrance Community Television Awards.

A public service announcement that features and students who say they "need a place to skate" won a Stanley Award as part of the Torrance Community Television Video Awards held Friday.

"The Stanley's" recognized Skatepark PV's 35-second video in the "short category."

Skatepark PV is a local nonprofit formed to rally support for a skate park among Palos Verdes residents.

The Torrance Community Television Awards event recognizes community programming, in addition to the efforts of Torrance producers and volunteers, according to the city's website.

Skatepark PV Founder Ellen November said the group was also given a new video camera, in addition to the Stanley Award.

Rancho Palos Verdes is currently working with consultant Mia Lehrer & Associates to look into location possibilities and analysis for both skate and dog parks. City officials plan to schedule workshops to gather feedback on the parks from the community.
