Small Quake Rattles San Pedro Channel

A magnitude-2.5 earthquake strikes the San Pedro Channel about 11 miles south-southeast of Rancho Palos Verdes.

Only a handful of people reported feeling a magnitude-2.5 earthquake that struck the San Pedro Channel between the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Catalina Island on Thursday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's Community Internet Internet Intensity Map.

The temblor's epicenter was about 11 miles south-southeast of Rancho Palos Verdes.

The relatively shallow quake was measured at one-tenth of a kilometer below the earth's surface.
