The teen accidentally fell from a freeway on-ramp as a car sideshow was going on during the early hours of Sept. 13, authorities said.
HARBOR CITY, CA — The family of a 16-year-old South Bay teen who authorities say died after falling from a freeway on-ramp in Northern California earlier this month is raising funds to help pay for funeral costs.
Jose Cuevas, who news outlets identified as a Harbor City teen and Narbonne High School student, was trying to watch a street takeover near Pomona and Merchant streets in Crockett during the early hours of Sept. 13, when he climbed over a concrete safety barrier along the westbound Interstate 80 on-ramp, according to authorities.
That's when he accidentally fell about 75 feet to his death, according to the California Highway Patrol.
