Western Avenue to Be Narrowed Nightly

Western Avenue—also known as SR-213—between 25th Street and Avenida Aprenda in Rancho Palos Verdes and San Pedro will be narrowed to one lane in each direction weekday nights from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning while Caltrans repaves the road.

According to an email from Caltrans Public Information Officer Patrick Chandler, the closures will begin Monday and last through mid-November 2012.

The $1.2 million project involves repaving Western Avenue between 19th Street and Avenida Aprenda with rubberized asphalt, Chandler said.

"(Rubberized asphalt) will help extend the life of the pavement, reduce maintenance costs and provide for a much smoother ride," Chandler said.
