Wind Advisory Issued For Rancho Palos Verdes With Gusts Up To 50 MPH

Officials with the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory in effect through early Wednesday morning.

PALOS VERDES, CA — A wind advisory went into effect today in the Palos Verdes region, with city officials warning residents to take caution while driving and going outside.

The advisory, which predicts winds up to 20 to 30 miles per hour, will be in effect until 2 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Weather Service officials said gusts up to 50 miles per hour are also expected.

The advisory is in effect in much of the Los Angeles region and Oxnard.

Winds this powerful can make driving difficult, "especially for high profile vehicles" such as motor homes and big rigs, NWS officials said.

Weather Service officials added that the heavy winds could result in power outages around the region.

Rancho Palos Verdes city officials asked residents to secure any items that may be susceptible to being carried away by the wind, such as outdoor furniture and umbrellas.

"Be cautious of falling debris or tree branches," city officials added.
