2 Held In Fatal Pasadena Shooting
Police are asking for witnesses in the Aug.9 shooting death of a 24-year-old man in a robbery and drug deal gone bad.
PASADENA, CA — The case against two men suspected in the shooting death of a 24-year-old man in Pasadena when a robbery and drug deal went wrong was presented to prosecutors Friday.
Officers were called about 10:49 a.m. last Friday to the 100 block of Painter Street where they found Anthony Michael Tafoya Ortiz of Los Angeles suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Pasadena Police Department Lt. Jesse Carrillo.
Paramedics took Ortiz to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 10:35 a.m. Sunday, Carrillo said.

About 4:30 p.m. the day after the shooting, Lamarr Marquise McDaniels II, 24, was arrested in Monrovia and about 8:34 p.m. Wednesday, Trevor Dorman, 19, was arrested in Covina in connection with the killing, police said.
"The investigation has revealed victim Ortiz was shot after a planned robbery and drug deal went awry," Carrillo said.

McDaniels and Dorman are both accused of murder, conspiracy and attempted robbery and McDaniels is additionally suspected of assault with a firearm, police said.
Dorman was being held without bail while McDaniels was being held in lieu of $3.08 million bail, according to the Pasadena Police Department.
