Bear Tranquilized After Wandering Into Pasadena Backyard
The bear may have been looking for food and water in the Pasadena neighborhood, according to a city spokeswoman.

PASADENA, CA — A bear wandered through a Pasadena neighborhood Friday afternoon, possibly on the search for something to drink, according to city officials.
The 300-pound bear was sighted in the 3200 block of Mataro Street around noon, and it eventually climbed into a resident’s backyard. The bear was tranquilized by California Fish and Game personnel, and the animal will be taken back to its natural habitat, according to Pasadena spokeswoman Lisa Derderian.
The bear may have been looking for food and water in the neighborhood because of the "drought situation" in California, Derderian said. The bear is believed to be a juvenile.
