City Hosting Auditions For the Next Pasadena Idol

Auditions for the local singing competition are set for Saturday.

Aspiring singers will have the chance to show off their vocal talents in Pasadena’s search for the next Pasadena Idol.

Auditions for Pasadena Idol 2013 will be Saturday, April 27 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Paseo Colorado’s Garfield Promenade, 280 East Colorado Blvd., according to Pasadena Now.

Coordinated by the city’s human services and recreation department, the competition is open to amateur performers ages 13 to 18 years old who either reside or attend public or private school in Pasadena.

Interested participants should arrive to the auditions before 12 p.m. to register.

Auditions require that contestants sing a cappella without instrumental accompaniment and they may be asked to sing up to two songs.

Up to 40 performers will be selected from the auditions to attend three workshops designed to develop artist performing skills and vocal technique. Ten performers will be selected from these workshops to advance to the final competition for the Pasadena Idol 2013 title, scheduled at Paseo Colorado Aug. 24.
