Disabled Parking Placard Thefts On The Rise: Pasadena Police

Authorities have noticed an uptick in thefts of the blue placards and are warning residents to keep them out of sight when not in use.

PASADENA, CA — Police are warning residents to hide their disabled person parking placards when not using them after noticing a recent uptick in thefts.

Thieves are grabbing the blue placards during the night from cars parked on the street in residential neighborhoods, according to the Pasadena Police Department. The thieves then illegally resell the placards.

This year has seen at least 11 thefts, police said. Eighteen thefts were reported in 2020, while 2019 saw 43 thefts.

Drivers who had their placards stolen can report the theft by calling 626-744-4241 or filing a report online.
