Getaway Driver In Pasadena Drive-By Gets 332 Years

A man behind the wheel in a drive-by shooting that injured two women during a deadly a Pasadena gang war was sentenced to 332 years.

PASADENA, CA — An ex-con who served as the getaway driver in a gang- related shooting last year in Pasadena that left two women injured was sentenced Tuesday to 332 years to life in state prison.

Superior Court Judge Jared Moses imposed the term on Marquis Duran Turner, 29, of Apple Valley, who was convicted April 2 of seven counts of attempted murder and one count each of conspiracy to commit murder and shooting at an occupied motor vehicle.

The charges against Turner, who has a 2008 conviction for robbery in San Bernardino County, also included gang and gun allegations, which jurors found true.

Co-defendant Anthony Deon Edwards, also known as Deon Jackson, 26, of Duarte, was convicted of the same charges and allegations. He was sentenced last month to 246 years to life in state prison.

Turner and Edwards went from Duarte -- where their gang is based -- to Pasadena, where Edwards and another man who's still being sought opened fire on a group of seven people with no gang affiliations, according to Deputy District Attorney David Ayvazian.

One of the women lost one of her fingers and lost the use of most of her fingers on her right hand, and the other woman suffered a cut to the head, the prosecutor said.

Pasadena police said last year that Turner and Edwards were among eight suspected Duarte gang members arrested in connection with an investigation into homicides or attempted homicides during a two-month feud between Pasadena and Duarte street gangs that started in December 2016.
