Motorcyclist Killed on 210 Freeway ID'd

PASADENA, CA - Authorities on Friday identified a motorcyclist killed in a collision with a pickup truck on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Pasadena.
The crash at Sierra Madre Villa Avenue happened about 4:40 p.m. Thursday, California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Rubio said.
Isaias Vargas Jr., 22, of Pasadena died at the scene, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

Vargas was driving his 2014 Yamaha R6 westbound on the freeway between the high-occupancy vehicle and fast lanes, the CHP said.
The motorcyclist passed a black Nissan 350Z and was centered in the HOV lane when he drove into the rear of a 2003 Dodge pickup truck that was slowing or stopping due to traffic, according to the CHP.

There were no other injuries, and intoxication was not considered a factor, the CHP reported.
The HOV lane and the fast lane were closed for about three hours while an investigation was conducted.
