Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Pickup Truck in Pasadena

The rider was driving on the westbound 210 freeway when he crashed into the rear of the pickup truck.

PASADENA, CA - A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed Thursday night in a collision on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Pasadena with a white pickup truck.

The collision at Sierra Madre Villa Avenue was reported at 4:41 p.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Alex Rubio.

The Pasadena resident was driving his 2014 Yamaha R6 westbound on the Foothill Freeway between the high-occupancy vehicle and fast lanes, the CHP said.

The motorcyclist passed a black Nissan 350Z and was centered in the HOV lane when he drove into the rear of a 2003 Dodge pickup truck that was slowing or stopping due to traffic, according to a CHP report.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, Rubio said. His name was not released.

There were no other injuries and intoxication was not considered a factor, the CHP reported.

The CHP issued a SigAlert shutting down the high-occupancy vehicle and fast lanes until 7:22 p.m., Rubio said.
