Combative Man Flees From Kohl's Security Guards
During the chase in Petaluma, the suspect allegedly threatens to shoot pursuing security guards, but no firearm was seen.

PETALUMA - Police arrested a man Monday evening in Petaluma because he threatened a department store security guard after the security guard accused the man of shoplifting.
At 5:35 p.m., police say they received a call from the security team at Kohl’s, located at 1363 N. McDowell Blvd. Security guards told Petaluma police that they were chasing a man who had allegedly shoplifted from the store.
During the chase, the man - identified as 49-year-old Scott Sloan of Santa Rosa - allegedly threatened to shoot the security guards, but no firearm was seen.

Sloan then ran into an empty field off of Redwood Way and was seen taking off his jacket and shirt.
Officers say they set up a perimeter around the field and began to look for Sloan, who was eventually found lying in foot-tall weeds.

Store security guards identified Sloan as the suspect who stole items and threatened them.
Officers arrested Sloan on suspicion of making criminal threats as well as petty theft, police said.
