Driver Collides With Fire Hydrant, Suspected Of DUI

PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma man was arrested Monday on suspicion of DUI when he crashed into a fire hydrant, police said.

Personnel with the Petaluma Police Department and Petaluma Fire Department were dispatched at 3:55 p.m. Monday to the intersection of Petaluma Boulevard South and Crystal Lane and confirmed the driver of an F-150 pickup truck collided with a hydrant near the roundabout.

The driver, identified by police as Anthony Fires, 41, of Petaluma, showed objective signs of alcohol intoxication and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Petaluma police Sgt. Mario Giomi said.

Fires was taken to a hospital for medical clearance before he was booked into Sonoma County jail, Giomi said.
