Fatality Reported In Head-On Collision, DUI Suspected: CHP

One woman became trapped in her car and died, while another woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI, the California Highway Patrol said.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — DUI is suspected in a head-on collision early Monday morning in the unincorporated community of Graton, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash involved two vehicles and was reported at 5:39 a.m. on Guerneville Road just west of Laguna Road.

"One vehicle crossed over double yellows into the opposing lane and caused the crash," CHP Spokesman David deRutte told Patch.

A woman became trapped in her car and suffered fatal injuries.

According to the CHP, a second woman who is believed to have caused the crash was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.

"She was arrested for DUI," deRutte said.

The fatal crash closed Laguna Road at Frei Road, it was reported shortly after 6 a.m.

A dog belonging to one of the involved parties survived the crash and was found at the scene, the CHP reported.
