'No Fire Threat' To Petaluma; Emergency Operations Center Opening

Petaluma officials say the city is under no threat from ongoing fires in the Bay Area, but preparations are being made.

PETALUMA, CA — Officials in Petaluma said the ongoing LNU Complex Lightning fires threatening homes in Sonoma County and surrounding areas posed no threat to residents in the city as of late Wednesday morning.

Even still, firefighters and officials in Petaluma are contributing to ongoing emergency response efforts in the region.

In a notice to residents, the City of Petaluma said its police officers and firefighters are assisting officials in the region with evacuations and firefighting efforts.

Further, the notice stated, the city has opened its Emergency Operations Center to help support Sonoma County and to open evacuation centers as needed.

The notice said officials are working with local partners like the Petaluma People Services Center to provide assistance as needed.
