Pedestrian Fatally Struck On Highway 12 In Sonoma County
A pickup truck collided with a Santa Rosa woman within a crosswalk. CHP has not yet determined why the crash happened.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck Monday night on state Highway 12 in Sonoma Valley, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP was notified at 8:05 p.m. Monday about the collision that involved a 2019 Toyota Tundra pickup truck and a pedestrian at SR-12 and Verano Avenue, CHP Officer Jaret Paulson said.
The pedestrian, a 36-year-old Santa Rosa woman, was struck as she was crossing the intersection of SR-12 and Verano Avenue, walking from the southwest corner toward the southeast corner, in the south crosswalk, Paulson said.

The pickup truck, driven by a 24-year-old Sonoma man, was traveling westbound on Verano Avenue and turning to southbound SR-12.
"For an undetermined reason the truck and the pedestrian crashed within the south crosswalk," Paulson said.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office was working to notify her family members prior to releasing her identity.
The Tundra driver immediately stopped at the scene and waited for emergency personnel to arrive, the CHP said.
An investigation was continuing Tuesday into the crash.
