PETALUMA, CA — More than two dozen Bank of America locations in the Bay Area and over 100 across the nation were slated for closure by the end of 2024.

The Bank of America at 200 Kentucky St. is among them.

"We are consolidating our Petaluma financial centers into our Petaluma branch located a mile away on McDowell Blvd when the Kentucky Street lease expires on August 13, 2024," Colleen Haggerty, Bank of America senior vice president of marketing and global affairs, told Patch.

Until then, the branch is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday -Friday. Customers with a safe deposit box are asked to call 877-218-8262 to make an appointment to close it.

"There will be no impact on employees at the Kentucky branch as they will be offered roles at Bank of America's many other financial centers in the region," Haggerty wrote in an email to Patch.

The Bank of America at 181 N. McDowell Blvd. in East Petaluma is open 9 a.m. -5 p.m. Monday-Friday. There is also a walk-up Bank of America ATM at Savemart, 1000 Petaluma Blvd. North. It can be accessed 24/7 for traditional ATM transactions and for making deposits and credit card payments.

According to the San Francisco Business Times, which first reported the Bay Area closures, Bank of America is the largest bank operating in the region.

Haggerty shared the reasoning behind the closures.

"Today, people use digital banking more than ever for their everyday financial needs and come into financial centers for more complex transactions or discussions about their finances," Haggerty said. "So we have been adjusting our retail network where centers are located in close proximity to one another, or where client traffic has diminished significantly."
