Petaluma Man Accused Of Possessing Obscene Images Of Children: Police

Detectives with the Northern California Computer Crimes Task Force assisted Petaluma police with the investigation.

PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma man was arrested this week on suspicion of possessing pornographic images of children engaging in or simulating sexual conduct, police said.

Detectives from the Petaluma Police Department initially served a search warrant June 4 at the home of Hugo Barajas, 40, with assistance from detectives with the Northern California Computer Crimes Task Force after receiving a tip related to illegal, obscene digital images/data.

Petaluma police Sgt. Ryan McGreevy said electronic devices belonging to Barajas were located and seized pursuant to the warrant.

It is alleged that after detectives developed probable cause Barajas was in possession of said illegal, obscene matter, he was arrested Wednesday at the Petaluma Police Department and booked into Sonoma County jail.

As of Friday, jail records indicated he was no longer in custody.
