Petaluma Slays Sonoma Valley High Dragons In Varsity Girls Soccer

The victory put the Petaluma Trojans girls varsity squad in third place in the league, while Trojans JV girls soccer is in first place.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — In a defensive battle, the Petaluma High School varsity girls' soccer squad beat the Sonoma Valley High School Dragons, 2-1 in league play Friday.

The matches took place at the newly renovated Sonoma Valley Sports Complex, which thanks to Measure E bond funding, provides synthetic turf and track, a centerpiece stadium, baseball fields, restroom, concession facilities and outdoor basketball courts.

With the victory, the Petaluma Trojans girls varsity squad is in third place with a record of 4-1-2.

Meanwhile, the Sonoma Dragons dropped to fourth place in VVAL league play with a record of 2-3-2.

In the earlier match, the Petaluma girls JV squad topped the Sonoma Valley JV squad 3-1 to remain undefeated in league play with a 5-0-1 record. Even more impressive is the Petaluma JV team's overall record of 10-0-2 for the season, according to the high school sports stats website, MaxPreps.
