Police Identify Mother, 10-Year-Old Son Found Dead In Santa Rosa

Authorities were doing additional tests to try and determine how the boy died.

SANTA ROSA, CA — The deaths of a Santa Rosa woman and her 10-year-old son remained under investigation this week.

The mother was identified as Cinthya Salcido Fimbres, a 54-year-old resident of Santa Rosa, and her son was identified as 10-year-old Maximus Monroy.

Their bodies were discovered shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, when officers responded to a report that two people were possibly dead at an apartment in the 500 block of Summerfield Road in Santa Rosa.

Fimbres and her son were found in the bathroom of an apartment they shared with other people, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Patricia Seffens said.

Autopsies were conducted Thursday, March 7, by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Coroner Bureau. The final coroner's reports were pending but it is believed Fimbres died of self-inflicted wounds caused by a cutting instrument, Seffens said.

Additional testing was being done to try and determine the cause of death for Maximus, as the boy did not have any visible injuries, Seffens said.

Their next of kin have been notified.

"SRPD detectives are continuing to investigate this incident," Seffens said. "Additional information will be released as it becomes available throughout the investigation."
