Roadways Flooded In Petaluma, Police Say
Petaluma police expect more flooded roads and advised all drivers to take extra precautions.

PETALUMA, CA — Local streams around Petaluma were slowly rising and expected to rise further as the night progresses, the Petaluma Police Department said shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday.
At the time, there was flooding in the westbound lane of Lakeville Highway (state Highway 116), just east of Browns Lane. There was also minor roadway flooding on Browns Lane and Ely Blvd South, south of Frates Road.
"City officials continue to monitor the weather and local streams," Petaluma police said. "Public works, fire and police personnel are prepared to respond to road closures, blocked storm drains and storm-related debris falling on the streets and sidewalks if needed. Please drive slowly if you see public safety personnel performing traffic control or clearing storm debris."

Petaluma police advised all drivers to take extra precautions.
"Drivers should not pass road closure or flooding signs," police said. "If drivers encounter standing water on the roadway they are advised to not attempt to drive through the water as many times the standing water is much deeper than it appears."

Residents are encouraged to notify the Petaluma Police Department at 707-778-4372 to report flooded roadways or downed utility lines.
To report blocked storm drains, road hazards or fallen trees, residents should call 707-778-4546, Ext 2.
