BREAKING: The suspect was caught as she was allegedly assaulting an elderly woman in an effort to steal her purse, police say.

MARIN and SONOMA COUNTIES, CA — A Santa Rosa woman was arrested on suspicion of theft, burglary, conspiracy and other offenses in Marin County on Monday, Novato police said. Haylee Annmarie Dolan, 19, was arrested at the Trader Joe's store at 7514 Redwood Blvd. in Novato on suspicion of assaulting an elderly woman while trying to steal her purse, police said.

Dolan allegedly gave a false name but she matched the description of a suspect from an earlier residential burglary and was arrested for both incidents, police said.

Witnesses approached Novato police at the Trader Joe's store and implicated her in a theft of an iPhone and other items from a vehicle, police said. Dolan was allegedly in possession of the items and of jewelry and other personal accessories from thefts in Novato and unincorporated Bel Marin Keys, police said.
