Sonoma County To Hold Meetings On Proposed Cannabis Program Update

The meetings could result in proposals to expand, restrict or eliminate cannabis land uses and streamline the cannabis permitting process.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Permit Sonoma, the department within the Sonoma County government that deals with business permits and licensing, will host two meetings Wednesday, Dec. 13 on proposed updates to Sonoma County's Cannabis Program.

The first meeting is in person at the Board of Supervisors Chambers from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The second meeting is on Zoom from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The content is the same for both meetings and includes a presentation of the mapping parameters, GIS maps and key program elements. The meetings are informational only; if approved at a later date by the Board of Supervisors, the update could result in a series of zoning changes that may retain, replace, expand upon or eliminate existing provisions of the current cannabis ordinance.

The primary goals of the cannabis program update are to consider cannabis land uses within unincorporated areas of the county and further enhance neighborhood compatibility and environmental protections. The analysis could result in proposals to expand, restrict, or eliminate cannabis land uses and streamline the cannabis permitting process, according to Permit Sonoma.
