PETALUMA, CA — A Petaluma man is suspected of causing two crashes while driving under the influence of alcohol Saturday night on Lakeville Highway, police said.

Officers responded around 11:15 p.m. Saturday to the intersection of Lakeville Highway and Baywood Drive — just east of U.S. Highway 101 — to a report of a crash involving three cars.

As officers spoke with the involved parties, they learned Miguel Cruz Lopez, 28, rear-ended a car at the intersection of Lakeville Highway and Marina Avenue, Petaluma police Lt. Garrett Glaviano said. It is alleged that as he fled the scene of the first crash, Cruz Lopez rear-ended another car at the intersection of Lakeville and Baywood.
