Suspected DUI Driver Hits Street Sign, Leaves Bumper Behind: Police
An officer on routine patrol saw a damaged city street sign, then followed debris in the road and found a car missing its bumper.

PETALUMA, CA — A man who collided with a curb and a city street sign early Wednesday morning in Petaluma is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.
While on routine patrol around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday at East D Street and Copeland Street, a Petaluma police officer saw vehicle debris on a sidewalk and a damaged city street sign at East D Street and Copeland Street, Petaluma police Lt. Matt Parnow said.
The officer continued south on Lakeville Street and found a car that had collided with the front curb of the Gateway Shopping Center and was blocking a lane.

The officer noticed the car was missing a front bumper similar to the one found on East D Street, Parnow said.
Officers allege the driver of the car, 44-year-old Bernabe Zuniga-Jaramillo, showed signs of alcohol intoxication.

After an investigation, Zuniga-Jaramillo was arrested and booked into Sonoma County jail on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.

Since Zuniga-Jaramillo had a suspended driver's license for a prior DUI, his car was impounded.
He remained in custody Wednesday morning with bail set at $10,000, jail records showed.
