Woman Found Dead in Petaluma Street: Authorities Investigating

PETALUMA, CA -- A woman who police say is a known transient was found down and unresponsive by paramedics just before 1 am Friday morning in Petaluma.

At 12:58 am Friday, the Petaluma Police Department received a report of a person down and unresponsive in the area of Lakeville Street and Madison Street. Petaluma police officers and the Petaluma Fire Department arrived on scene and located an adult female who was determined to deceased.

Detectives were called out to investigate the incident, and the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office responded and removed the body. An autopsy is pending.

The victim was identified as a known Petaluma transient. The death appears to be natural, with no signs of foul play at this time, according to the Petaluma PD.

Police say the victim’s name is being withheld at this time until notification to the victim’s family can be made.
