City Of Piedmont: Jennifer Long Appointed To City Council

At a special meeting on February 7, 2022, the Piedmont City Council selected Jennifer Long to fill the vacancy on the Council created by the resignation of Councilmember Tim Rood. Ms. Long will be sworn in at the City Council meeting on February 22, 2022.

Long received her Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law and is an active member of the State Bar of California.  She was selected from among eleven applicants for the position, each of whom was highly qualified.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Jennifer Long as our new colleague to the Piedmont City Council. Her professional background as an attorney and executive coach and her dedication to civic volunteerism through the Piedmont Anti-Racism and Diversity Committee (PADC) make her an outstanding choice,” said Mayor Teddy Gray King. “Of course, we had an embarrassment of riches in the many qualified applicants for the open seat. However, Ms. Long really stood out.  I can’t wait to work with her on the issues that Piedmont faces like housing, climate change, public safety and supporting our outstanding public schools.”

“I am honored, excited and humbled to be joining our City Council, and look forward to working with my colleagues on behalf of Piedmont residents,” said Ms. Long.

Ms. Long’s term on the City Council will begin on the date she is sworn in and will end when the results of the General Municipal Election of November 8, 2022 are certified, which likely will take place at a Council meeting in December, 2022.
