Do Piedmont High School Students Feel Safe on Campus?

A new website compiles heaps of data looking at the mental and physical well-being of the state's youth.

Fewer than one out of 100 high school juniors in Piedmont reported feeling unsafe at school, according to a 2010 survey of students statewide. In fact, Piedmont Unified School District high schoolers feel safer than students at high schools in 13 other school districts in Alameda County.

That’s just one detail gleaned from a mountain of information available on a new website looking at the physical and mental health of California’s youth. Drawing from a variety of sources, including the California Healthy Kids Survey and the stateDepartment of Educationkidsdata.org aims to promote “the health and well being of children by making trustworthy information easily accessible.”

Kidsdata is a project of the Lucile Packard Foundation For Children's Health, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
