OAKLAND, CA — An ex-convict has been charged with murder for the fatal shooting of another man in West Oakland in July, prosecutors said. Patrick Dempsey, a 39-year-old Oakland man, is accused of killing 27-year-old Spencer Reboredo of Oakland in the 900 block of 35th Street, near a Chevron gas station, at about 4:15 a.m. on July 14.
Dempsey is also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Oakland police Sgt. Michael Cardoza wrote in a probable cause statement that witnesses identified Dempsey as the person who shot and killed Reboredo.
Dempsey was arrested last Friday evening in the 1400 block of 33rd Street, only two blocks from the murder scene, but refused to talk to police, Cardoza said.
