Oakland Man Drives Off Road, Into River
CHP said the Oakland resident landed in the Petaluma River on Saturday. His dogs, who were with him, are now missing.

PETALUMA, CA -- An Oakland driver landed in the river after he allegedly failed to negotiate a sweeping left curve on northbound Petaluma Boulevard. The incident was reported around 5 a.m. when the man drove into the Petaluma River, California Highway Patrol said.
Nathan Cabreana, 37, of Oakland, was able to escape the vehicle and appears uninjured, but was transported to Petaluma Valley Hospital for precautionary reasons, CHP said.
Two dogs were also in the vehicle and apparently escaped, but could not be located. The dog's breeds are not known at this time.

Cabreana's vehicle actively leaked vehicle fluids into the Petaluma River, and the Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified of the potential hazardous material leak and responded to the scene.
The vehicle was recovered from the river with the assistance of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Dive Team.
