It's Not Too Late To Run For Piedmont City Council.
Three City Council seats and two seats on the Board of Education are up for grabs in Piedmont's municipal election scheduled for Nov. 8.

PIEDMONT, CA — Three City Council seats are up for grabs in Piedmont’s at-large municipal election scheduled for Nov. 8, 2022. Two seats on the Board of Education are also up for election and those hoping to secure a spot on the ballot only have until 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2022, to file their nomination packet.
The nomination period opened July 18, 2022, and those interested in running for office need to obtain a nomination packet which includes all the forms potential candidates need. To schedule an appointment to pull or file nomination papers contact the City Clerk’s office, by email or by calling (510) 420-3040.
To run for an office with the city, potential candidates must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Piedmont and a registered voter at the time nomination papers are issued for candidacy. Candidates must also be at least 18 years of age on the date of the next election and not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction, the city’s election guide for candidates reported.

If an incumbent does not file nomination papers by close of business Friday, August 12, 2022, the nomination period will be extended until Wednesday, August 17, 2022, the city said.
Each nomination paper must be signed by at least 20 but no more than 30 registered voters of the city of Piedmont.

Those running for office will need to include a ballot designation and can submit a candidate statement no more than 200 words, according to election code. Candidate statements are published in the sample ballot and mailed to all registered voters, the city said. Candidates who choose not to submit a candidate statement, will be responsible for the cost of printing, translating and publishing the statement in the sample ballot.
