Piedmont Resident Al Gilbert Named Chief Operating Officer at SF Agency

Albert Gilbert III now oversees general and financial operations for the Family Service Agency of San Francisco.

Piedmont resident Albert Gilbert III has been promoted to the post of chief operating officer at the Family Service Agency of San Francisco, according to an agency press release.

In addition to operations, Gilbert will oversee all financial operations, with responsibility for the chief financial officer and controller. He reports to the CEO, Bob Bennett.

Gilbert joined FSA in 2004 as the chief financial officer. In that position, he reorganized the agency’s operating budget, designed and implemented a strategic plan for both management and staff development for over 300 employees, added 200 volunteers to FSA’s roster, overssaw fiscal restructuring, auditing and compliance, and negotiated over $2 million in new grants and contributions. Under Gilbert’s fiscal leadership, FSA has more than doubled its budget.

Gilbert received an M.B.A. from Indiana University and a B.S. in business administration and accounting from Ohio State University. He and his wife have one son.

The Family Service Agency of San Francisco is is the largest nonsectarian provider of outpatient treatment and social services in the City and County of San Francisco.
