Police Blotter: 3 More Burglaries, Dog Bites Dog, Juveniles Caught with Booze

The Piedmont police blotter from April 12 through noon of April 15 includes three residential burglaries, including one where the resident dismissed the alarm as being caused by the wind, a "dinged" police car and two DUI arrests.

Incidents highlighted in the blotter below were recorded in the Piedmont Police Department log. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Friday, April 12

Auto burglary – A woman in the first block of Sandringham Road reported that CDs and change were stolen from an unlocked vehicle the previous night.

Off-leash dog bites dog – A woman in the 700 block of Highland Avenue reported that an off-leash German shepherd bit her dog about 10:53 a.m. in the park.

Non-injury accident – A citizen flagged down an officer in the first block of Craig Avenue to report a non-injury accident.

Key found – At 7:44 p.m., police received a report of a key found at the park near the water fountain.

Saturday, April 13

DUI arrest – At 1:51 a.m., police arrested a driver at Pleasant Valley Avenue and Moraga Avenue on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Residential burglary – A man in 200 block of Mountain Avenue reported a garage broken into sometime the previous night.

Baby bird not injured – At 10:22 a.m., a woman at the tennis courts on Linda reported an injured baby bird in the bushes behind the wooden bench. A responding officer reported that the bird was not injured and that the mother was nearby.

Attempted residential burglary? – A resident in the 200 block of Estates Drive reported a side door to the house appears to have been damaged sometime the previous night and believed that someone tried to break in.

Police car dinged – An officer reported at 6:08 p.m. that a patrol car had been "dinged" in the 100 block of Vista Avenue.

Sunday, April 14

Juveniles detailed for alcohol – At 12:44 a.m., police detained three subjects, who were not intoxicated, for juvenile possession of alcohol.

DUI arrest – At 2:55 a.m., police arrested a driver at Hampton Road and King Avenue on suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver was taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility n Oakland.

Mysterious keys in car – At 6:42 p.m., a woman in the 100 block of St. James Drive reported finding keys in her car that don't belong to her. She thinks they are related to when her car was stolen.

Monday, April 15

Theft of mail – At 10:05 a.m., a woman in the first block of Sandringham Place reported theft of mail.

Jewelry stolen from home – At 10:57 a.m., a woman in the 200 block of Blair Avenue reported jewelry stolen from her residence.

Residential burglary, alarm ignored – At 11:51 a.m., a man in the first block of Inverleith Terrace reported that he had just come home to find that his residence had been burglarized. He said he had received a call from his alarm company, Protection One, an hour earlier to report an activation but he thought it was the wind and told the alarm company not to dispatch Piedmont Police.
